Editorial Reviews
The GMC Denali 700C Women's 21-Speed Road Bike is built around a lightweight aluminum 19.5-inch road bike frame. This model has the traditional dropped top tube women's configuration. You'll stop on a dime with the alloy calipers and brake levers, and the high-profile alloy Vitesse racing rims look as good as they perform. The Shimano derailleur and Shimano Revo shifts make it easy to change gears quickly and smoothly, and the high-performance 700c tires are up to the challenge of rigorous street racing. Lastly, this road bike will help you stay hydrated with the included alloy water bottle cage.

This product is only getting two stars because it actually has two wheels and when you get on it does actually move. Other than that, it does not perform at all. There are a few key points that I would like to mention.
1) I purchased a women's road bike to specifically avoid problems that most women come accross when purchasing a road bike. One major problem is a not being able to reach the brakes comfortably. There was no thought put into that aspect on this bike at all. Not to mention that once I got the brakes adjusted and shimmed such that my 5'4" body's hands could reach the levers it required much more pressure than it should to apply the breaks. Even pulling at my full strength (keeping in mind that I can only reach the lever with two fingers) I cannot stop the bike comfortably. Sure it goes, but going is only good if you can stop.
2) keep in mind that when people actually use these twist shifters they do not use normal drop handlebars. They actually have to saw them in half, then insert the shifters, and then join them together again in a t-joint. This may not be a big deal for most people, but it may cause two problems. It will be very difficult for you to upgrade your drop bar if you ever chose to do so (which I believe comes with a men's drop bar, not a women's specific drop bar.). It will also prevent you from putting brake levers on the flat part of the drop bar. This is a feature that is seen on many road bikes that are meant for more recreational use, and is a great one. It means that in the more comfortable hand position you still have access to the brakes in a time of need. Also keep in mind that with the shifters on this part of the drop bar your hands will be in that area a lot.
Nice Bike For Price
I recently purchased this bike. My dad helped me put it together, and it took us about 45 minutes. I agree with others about the brakes... they really aren't that good. For added safety, I am soon going to be purchasing better brakes. Also, I have owned this bike for about 3 weeks, kept it out of the elements, and I have noticed that the handle grips are now cracking. I'm sure this can be fixed cheaply with some electrical tape.
Overall I would recommend this bike to someone looking for a cheap beginners road bike.
Love this bike!
I have had this bike since March. I did have to replace both tubes but that was not a big deal. My husband put the bike together without any problems. I ride approx. 5 days a week, from 4 to 15 miles at a time, depending where I start from. Some of the rubber pieces that cover the brakes on the handle bars came off, but I contribute this to the fact that it stays on the back of my car when I'm not riding it, it is not sheltered from the weather.
